OET emulates the tasks encountered in healthcare environments and assesses the competency of candidates in the domains of listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The examination is conducted in a paper-based format and is administered monthly. The students' proficiency in listening (for approximately 40 minutes), reading (for 60 minutes), writing (for 45 minutes), and speaking skills (for approximately 20 minutes) is evaluated. The test results are made available online, typically within 16 business days after the test.
OET is comparatively easier for most healthcare professionals such as nurses, than other general English tests. Healthcare professionals choose OET because it helps them improve their language and communication skills required for work or study.
