Full Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Surgeon to join our medical team. The successful candidate will provide high quality surgical care across a wide range of conditions, performing both elective and emergency surgeries. The General Surgeon will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Perform a variety of general surgical procedures, including but not limited to
abdominal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and soft tissue surgeries.
 Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for patients, ensuring
the best possible outcomes.
 Manage emergency surgeries for trauma, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and other
urgent medical conditions.
 Evaluate patients’ medical histories and perform physical examinations to determine
the appropriate surgical treatment.
 Develop comprehensive treatment plans based on patient needs, including both
surgical and non-surgical options.
 Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists in the
operating room and ICU.
 Provide expert consultation and advice for non-surgical departments, ensuring the
right clinical approach for each case.
 Supervise and train junior surgeons, residents, and other medical professionals in best
practices and techniques.
 Keep abreast of the latest advancements in surgical techniques and innovations,
ensuring evidence-based practices are implemented.
 Participate in regular surgical rounds, presenting cases and reviewing patient progress.
 Develop and implement patient safety protocols to ensure the highest standards of
care are met.
 Conduct research and contribute to the advancement of surgical knowledge and
practices through clinical studies and publications.
 Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient records, including surgery reports
and progress notes.
 Ensure compliance with local and international medical and surgical regulations,
including infection control and quality standards.
 Provide mentorship and support to medical and nursing staff, fostering a culture of
education and excellence.

Minimum Requirements:

Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and postgraduate qualification in General
Surgery (MD, MS, or equivalent).
 Board certification in General Surgery or an equivalent qualification recognized by
local medical authorities.
 A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a General Surgeon, with expertise in
performing a broad range of surgeries.
 Proven ability to manage emergency surgical cases and complex medical conditions.
 In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments, techniques, and procedures.

 Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and patient-
centered care.
 Experience in training, mentoring, and supervising junior medical staff.
 Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining certifications.
 Eligibility to obtain an MOH license or equivalent licensing in the region.
