We have an exciting opportunity for a Surgical First Assistant to join our Theatre Department team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality care for patients during their perioperative phase.
  • Support and assist in the management and organization of care provision within the Operating Department.
  • Assist in patient care delivery.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of self and colleagues.
  • Apply and promote best evidence-based practices within scope of practice.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, ensuring safety measures for patients, relatives, visitors, staff, and contractors.
  • Achieve agreed objectives while demonstrating CHG behaviors at all times.
  • Assemble, check, and prepare surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures.

What We Require:

  • Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Surgical First Assistant qualification (Essential).
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) Certification.
  • Mentorship Qualification.
  • GCSE Maths & English (Grades A-C) or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2.
  • Proficiency in IT systems/software.
  • Experience in customer care, including managing challenging situations.
  • Previous experience in an acute healthcare environment.
  • Experience in orthopaedic surgeries (e.g., TKR, THR, Shoulder Replacement, ACL surgeries).
