Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Surgical First Assistant to join our Theatre Department team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, high-quality care for patients during their perioperative phase.
- Support and assist in the management and organization of care provision within the Operating Department.
- Assist in patient care delivery.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of self and colleagues.
- Apply and promote best evidence-based practices within scope of practice.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, ensuring safety measures for patients, relatives, visitors, staff, and contractors.
- Achieve agreed objectives while demonstrating CHG behaviors at all times.
- Assemble, check, and prepare surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures.
What We Require:
- Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.
- Surgical First Assistant qualification (Essential).
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) Certification.
- Mentorship Qualification.
- GCSE Maths & English (Grades A-C) or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2.
- Proficiency in IT systems/software.
- Experience in customer care, including managing challenging situations.
- Previous experience in an acute healthcare environment.
- Experience in orthopaedic surgeries (e.g., TKR, THR, Shoulder Replacement, ACL surgeries).
